Our Team

Jean-Jacques Hunter

Jean-Jacques is the founder of The Concussion Literacy Project. A former Division I football player at Tulane University, he witnessed firsthand the challenges athletes face in recognizing and reporting concussions. He went on to earn a B.S. in Neuroscience with a minor in Chemistry, publishing peer-reviewed research on brain tumors and working in neurology clinics with patients facing memory and movement disorders. Now, he is focused on advancing education and resources for mild traumatic brain injury. Jean-Jacques is passionate about making concussion science clear, accessible, and actionable for athletes, families, and communities.

Samantha Green

Samantha is a former Tulane University beach volleyball standout and dedicated advocate for athlete health. Her experiences on the court showed her how easily head injuries can be overlooked, sparking her commitment to education and prevention. With a strong interest in healthcare, she combines her background as a Division I athlete with her work as a researcher and advocate for safer sports environments. She brings both personal insight and professional dedication to the mission of improving concussion awareness and care. Samantha is passionate about using her platform to drive meaningful change for athletes, families, and communities.

Parker Petersen

Parker is a current University of Wisconsin football player with extensive experience competing in one of the sport’s most physically demanding defensive positions. His time on the field has given him a close-up view of the realities athletes face when it comes to head impact and recovery. Balancing competition with advocacy, Parker is determined to use his platform to start conversations that are often left unsaid in locker rooms and on sidelines. He partners with The Concussion Literacy Project to push for better awareness, earlier recognition, and a culture where players feel supported in seeking care. For Parker, speaking out is part of reshaping the game he loves into one that protects athletes as much as it challenges them.

Jackson Portis-Escoto

Jackson is a Northwestern University graduate with a B.S. in Economics and a deep-rooted understanding of leadership. Hailing from Washington, D.C., he previously played wide receiver at Tulane University and served as a multisport athlete and club leader at St. Albans School, including in investments and sports management. His academic journey at Northwestern sharpened his analytical skills and reinforced his passion for bridging sports with effective, evidence-based support systems. Jackson now brings both his experience as a current athlete and his academic rigor to The Concussion Literacy Project, advocating for informed, proactive approaches to concussion awareness. As a team member, he’s committed to ensuring that concussion education is both accessible and grounded in real-world understanding.

Jacob George

Jacob graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Accounting, specializing in Internal Auditing, and plans to pursue graduate study in psychology. A former track runner and football player at St. Thomas More High School, Jacob brings the discipline of athletics into his passion for mental health, especially in advancing awareness around traumatic brain injury. His leadership as a Summer Staff Team Lead with Life Teen International, where he mentored 25 peers and spoke to audiences of more than 200, reflects his ability to guide and inspire others. Professionally, Jacob has gained experience with Grant Thornton Advisors in Dallas and The Newtron Group in Baton Rouge, sharpening his skills in analysis, communication, and problem-solving. Beyond academics and work, he has volunteered with Christ the King Church and served on a homeless outreach team. Jacob is driven to combine his background in leadership and service with his growing commitment to mental health advocacy, with the goal of building stronger and more supportive communities.
